		<description>Yes, they can go back several years to recoup money that was fraudulently claimed or paid in error.  Now if you knew it was an over-payment and took action to get it corrected when it was payed such as sending a certified letter of the error to them or if you can prove that you were forthright on your disclosure of income (Copy of your application) and that they were the ones in error and that an attempt to recoup those funds at this time would place you in an undue financial hardship and the error was through no fault of your own and you had no reason to question the amount at the time it was received, you can get them to waive recoupment.  Rule of thumb on financial documents, including any paperwork associated with receiving public aid payments, is to keep it for seven years.</description>
