Can you pay for a hotel for one night with cash or do you have to pay with a credit card?
Checkout desk and I want to stay for one night. At check out can I pay with cash?

you can pay with cash, even if you held the room with a credit card.

Yes, you can pay with cash, but be careful with the receipts. If there are any mistakes, you could still be billed on the credit card. (I reserved a hotel room with card A. No reservation when I checked in, but took room and paid with card B. I got billed on both cards!)
The initial hold on the account (issued when you checked in) may take a week to roll off of the card.

You can…but they may require a credit card for “incidentals” or a deposit. Also, it will look a little fishy if you pay with cash. It’s kind of a low class - prostitute-ish thing to do… :) Sorry!

well they need a credit card to reserve a room but when u get there u can tell the desk clerk that u wanna pay in cash and she should let u.
If u just show up at any random hotel u can pay in cash. The only reason they need a credit card is if ur making a reservation over the phone.

Yes. They imprint your card in the event you skip out, at check out they accept your cash and not charge your card.

If you present a credit card when you check in the hotel will get an authorization for the one night’s room rate plus about 30% for taxes, phone calls and in room movies.
If you pay for the total charges at checkout by other means (another credit card or cash) the authorization will remain on the original card for up to a month. This is up to the issuer of the card, not the hotel. This is why it is not a good idea to use a debit card (with the Visa/Mastercard logo) at hotels since it tie up the amount in your checking account.
If you pay cash when you check in the hotel (at least the decent ones) will turn off the telephone and in room movies to prevent you from running up a bill. To watch a movie or use the phone you would probably need to leave a deposit or credit card imprint. If you pay cash at check in and want to leave a credit card imprint for other charges ask the desk clerk to swipe your card after they have completed check in and get a manual authorization for $25.00. This way it the computer doesn’t hold up your credit card limit uneccarsily.

IF you are going in person most will let you use a Debit card or pay cash, some want a Debit or Credit Card, in case there is damage or something so they can bill you. But they don’t actually charge it. Some will block off $200 on your card until you pay cash, then remove it, but you have to have $200 available credit , that you don’t need at that moment,
