In order to hire a car, you must have a valid driver’s licence and when paying for a car, you may pay for the hire of car with cash (local South African Rand currency) or credit card. May I recommend Hertz Car Rental, situated at Cape Town International Airport. However, there are other car rental places also.

If you go along to your nearest Money Shop with 2 forms of ID, apply for a prepaid Mastercard. I have known them get them out in 3 days. Then load it with what you can afford and pay for your car hire this way.

WEll, they will allow you to rent a car with cash but require a larger than normal deposit …
